Open Cloud Take Two: The CloudStack Collaboration Conference 2013

By 05/16/20138月 22nd, 2017Blog

The last year has been a whirlwind of activity for Apache CloudStack. Citrix proposed CloudStack for the Apache Incubator in April of 2012, and just over a year later we’re gearing up for a second collaboration conference – this time in Santa Clara, CA, from June 23-25.

A lot has happened in the last year or so:

  • We’ve pushed out a major release and two maintenance releases.
  • We gathered the CloudStack community for a successful first conference in Las Vegas last November.
  • Apache CloudStack graduated from the Apache Incubator in March to become a top-level project.

What to Expect

What’s the conference all about? We’re getting users, developers, and integrators together to talk about their experience with CloudStack, share tips on how best to deploy CloudStack, and talk about the future of the project and improving CloudStack.

This includes not only developers working on CloudStack itself, but folks from projects surrounding Apache CloudStack, like Puppet, Ceph, Zenoss, and so forth.

You can find the first conference’s talks on YouTube. We enjoyed keynotes from Tom Raftery of RedMonk, Jim Jagielski of the Apache Software Foundation, Peder Ulander from Citrix, and dozens of great talks from contributors and participants in the CloudStack ecosystem.

Phoenix Project DevOps bookAs with the previous event, we also have some great evening events lined up and we’ve got a powerhouse keynote on the 24th from Gene Kim, one of the authors of The Phoenix Project. (If you’re passionate about reforming IT and DevOps, this is a book you really need to read.)

Bottom line: Expect a great selection of talks, an opportunity to learn from folks developing and deploying open source IaaS clouds, and enjoy an informal (but professional) atmosphere with enthusiastic open source folks. What could be better?

See You There?

If you’re near Santa Clara, CA you absolutely shouldn’t miss the CloudStack Collaboration Conference. Even if you need to travel a bit, it will be well worth it.

You can register today, and the call for proposals is open until May 19. See you there!
