Insprit Joins Linux Foundation
Korea’s leader in mobile convergence technologies and devices to collaborate on Linux development
SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, 2010 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced that Insprit has become its newest member.
Insprit provides 4G broadband convergence technologies that support the web, mobile, home network, robotics, IP-TV and telematics. Its technologies enable the reliable transmission and synchronization of all content types across fixed and mobile broadband networks and devices.
Insprit also works with affiliate partners such as Enspert, a company that designs next-generation convergence devices including the Android-based “Identity Tab” released in September by KT (Korean Telecom).
According to a recent report by Pyramid Research/Heavy Reading, there will be one billion mobile broadband connections by 2012. The content being transmitted will put rigorous demands on the networks. The report suggests that video downloads, P2P chat and multi-player gaming are driving mobile broadband traffic and require advanced 4G networks and devices to deliver this content to next-generation laptops and netbooks.
Insprit is joining The Linux Foundation to collaborate on Linux development and to provide technical contributions to Android, MeeGo and other Linux-based mobile platforms that will fuel both next-generation devices and networks.
