OpenLogic Joins The Linux Foundation

Provider of open source governance and scanning solutions joins Linux Foundation members to advance open compliance efforts

SAN FRANCISCO, October 21, 2010 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced that OpenLogic has become its newest member.

OpenLogic enables enterprises to successfully leverage open source software through provisioning, support and governance solutions. Its long history of assisting companies in navigating their software acquisitions has made the company an expert resource on open source governance and compliance.

OpenLogic was one of the founding members of FOSSBazaar, a Linux Foundation workgroup dedicated to open source governance. Today, the company is contributing to The Linux Foundation’s Open Compliance Program (which includes FOSSBazaar) and is actively involved with work on the SPDX data exchange standard used for sharing software bill of materials.

The Linux Foundation’s Open Compliance Program is an industry-wide initiative that includes a set of tools, training curricula and a new self-administered assessment that will allow companies to ensure compliance in a cost-effective and efficient manner. “In our work with large enterprises, we find adoption of open source continues to accelerate. The explosive growth of technologies such as mobile and cloud computing will drive additional use of open source software,” said Steven Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. “We’re looking forward to working with The Linux Foundation to facilitate open source adoption by educating companies on open source governance and compliance issues.”

“OpenLogic has long been involved in community governance and open compliance activities, so we’re excited to welcome them and their contributions to The Linux Foundation,” said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer programs.

The Linux Foundation’s membership is made up of thousands of individual and corporate members, as well as affiliates: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/about/members. The aggregate contributions from these members advance the operating system to compete in the enterprise and on next-generation computing devices.
