Event lineup represents pervasiveness of Linux, open source and open collaboration across markets and geographies
SAN FRANCISCO, January 21, 2014 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux and collaborative development, today announced its 2014 events schedule, which includes LinuxCon and CloudOpen in North America and Europe, as well as the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit, Embedded Linux Conference, Android Builders Summit and ApacheCon, among others.

The world of software development and IT is changing: open source and open collaboration now dominate in most areas of computing. The Linux Foundation brings together developers, IT professionals and companies who are on the cutting edge of this collaborative development change. Linux Foundation events have grown to become the best source of deep technical education and collaboration on such topics as Linux, the Internet of Everything, collaborative software development, open networking, open source embedded software and DevOps and cloud content.
LinuxCon and CloudOpen North America will take place this year in Chicago and will be co-located with the Linux Kernel Summit. LinuxCon and CloudOpen Europe will be in Duesseldorf, Germany, along with Embedded Linux Conference, KVM Forum and Linux Plumbers Conference.
“Nearly every technology sector and community is eager to benefit from open, collaborative development process in some way,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation. “Today, industries as varied as automotive, life sciences and gaming are interested in tapping into the collective knowledge base and success of Linux and open development. Our events showcase this, while continuing to attract the brightest developer minds and foremost thought leaders in the industry.”
